Quality you can taste!

We want to Share the Love in everything we do, from how farmers are paid to how we caretake the earth, from the quality of our processing to the consistency of our product. This is why we guarantee what we make and know you’ll love it!

All our cacao is all from Guatemala, whose climate and soils grow some of the best cacao. We source exclusively from small family farms, located in an area with a long history as a prime cacao growing region.

The cacao is certified organic, without the use of pesticides or other chemicals. We pay above international prices for cacao, ensuring that the small-scale farmers and workers all along the production process receive a fair wage.

The farm we work with selects premium varieties to plant and propagate. After the cacao pods are harvested, the cacao beans are fully fermented by professionals trained in this vital, often lacking, step. Once the beans have undergone their transformation, they are sun-dried and sent to our chocolate shop.

We work closely with a bean-to-bar chocolatier who then precision roast the beans and remove the husks. The hand-crafted block of cacao we carry is made by grinding the nibs into a fine paste and tempering the final product.

A morning breakfast on the go

Frothy, rich and ice-cold.

A great way to start your day! This simple & quick recipe will...

The full dose for when you have a couple of hours to yourself...

1lb Ceremonial Cacao Bar

B
Brittini
Disappointed

Decided it was time to try another ceremonial cacao brand as my supplier continues to increase the price. I have to say that I will be going back to my usual supplier. I really wanted to like this brand, but the taste is terrible and is something I’m having a hard time getting past. Cacao doesn’t taste pleasant imo, but this literally tastes like sour dairy. I’m now stuck with 2 blocks, unfortunately. The texture is different as well, it started to melt on my fingers as I was preparing it even though the house was cold. I’ve never experienced that before. This was the first time I felt absolutely nothing during my cacao ceremony. It was as if I ate a really expensive chocolate bar. Complete waste of money…. However, shipping was incredibly fast and it was packaged nicely.

Hey Brittini,
Sorry to hear that you're disappointed with your experience of our cacao. Cacao flavor profiles can vary widely and people often develop preferences for one over another and can be surprised by new flavor notes (like the 'red berry/sour' note you noticed in ours).
The ceremonial effects are hard to quantify as it's very dependent on mood, setting and how you work with the cacao. We highly recommend trying again and seeing what happens.
All the best
Moses

Energized :)

Really enjoying my Cocao Drinks. Are there more recipes? For healthy drinks? What is the cost benefit of using water over oat milk?

Hey Peter, glad to hear you're enjoying your cacao drinks!
We have tons of recipes here: https://www.embuecacao.com/blogs/recipes

For ceremony, we suggest just straight water & cacao as it absorbs quicker. For a decadent daily drink, you can add other milks, like oat, coconut, etc. The nut/seed milks just tend to slow absorption, that's all. We don't recommend soy or cow's milk as it can block the flavonoids in cacao.

Single Origin Ceremonial Cacao

Cultivated with intention

Our Single-origin cacao is from small family farms in Guatemala. Guatemala has a rich history connected to cacao, and the farms are located in Laguna Lachua, in the north-central area of the country, home to Q’eqchi’ Maya families. The farms are organized as an association to cooperate on the central processes of fermenting & drying.

Quality is everything

We pay a premium price for a premium product. Our long-term relationship offers us consistently high-quality cacao, and the farms access to a stable and high value market so the farmers can earn a living wage. The farmers association is trained in high quality cacao bean production, from varietal selection to the fermentation & sun-drying process, keeping more value-added at the source and ensuring professional standards in growing & processing.

Our Sourcing Reflects Four Values:

  • Ceremonial Quality
  • Social Responsibility
  • Ecological Awareness
  • Transparency
