We're Getting A Make-Over!!!
You saw that correctly! We are changing our name and getting a whole new look!
When we founded Heartblood Cacao over 10 years ago, we never imagined how cacao ceremonies would take off as much as it has, as people connected the power and potential of this beautiful medicine we call ceremonial cacao. In that timeframe, we’ve gone through a couple iterations of our logo, each step of the way, expressing ourselves more fully through our appearance.
After more than 8 years with our current appearance, we felt completely ready for an upgrade! As we dug deeper into our mission, read through your reviews, feedback and emails (and drank many a cup of cacao!), we felt clear that it was not only time for a new logo, but for a new name as well. Cacao has taught us to embody our purpose as fully as possible so that we are ever more deeply embodied in the work we’re doing in the world. Our new appearance comes out of a dive into that and how we want to reflect that in the world.
While cacao is certainly a heart-centered medicine, we felt that it’s soft, gentle nature and the wide range of possibilities in working with it, was best captured by the word ‘embue’. When we imbue our intentions into the cacao, there is so much room for growth, healing and well-being. There are many different ways that cacao supports us, and they all begin in the realm of our intentions and that magical process of coming to know cacao intimately. So part of our new name and look is an invitation to deepen into that process of co-creating with cacao and bringing your full self to the table.
Our logo similarly went through a long process of reflection on the core of who we are and what we do. While we had many beautiful ideas and options, the hands for us were the most real reflection of people, connections and the sacred. These hands, holding with tenderness and love, are a reflection of what we value. Perhaps they’re holding a cup of cacao, perhaps a tender heart, or perhaps each other. We have always relied on you, our community and cacao family, to be and become who we are. This is part of what cacao teaches us. So our new logo reflects the importance of connections and realness. No glossy computer graphics for us. This is hand-done (pun intended!) all the way!
Of course, we had to translate these changes into a new website and product design! Our new website will be launching on August 23rd and has shaped up beautifully! Our old website will remain live for a while to help remind you all where to find us. You’ll notice that we’ve created a much easier to access Learning Center, where we’ve put together over a decade of experience & learning with cacao. We want to continue sharing the love and making your journey with cacao as meaningful as possible.
When we turned our attention to our product design and packaging, we knew there were some things to keep, and some to change. The first (and most exciting) order of business was a completely custom mold for our signature 1lb ceremonial cacao bar. It’s the same shape and size (that makes it enjoyable to cut) but with our new name embossed on it! Of course, the gold foil and hand wrapped paper had to stay.
Our 1lb ceremonial cacao powder stayed in the resealable bag for ease of use and storage, along with our new design printed right onto it.
We took our 4-ounce mini bar and shifted it to a 3.5-ounce bar because we fund an awesome mold that breaks up by hand and each square is just the right size, at about 0.25 ounces/square. So this is a great option on the go, or to share with family & friends, as there’s no chopping or measuring involved!
We’re also super excited to finally be able to put the Certified Organic logo on our cacao! It’s a long journey to go from organic practices on the small family farms, to a stamp on the package! We’re happy to be able to provide this additional layer of transparency about our sourcing. You’ll also notice the nutritional label right on the back, as many of you ask us for that info.
Once the new website is live, you’ll notice a slight increase in our prices and we wanted to share more about this, as affordability is a key pillar of our approach to sharing cacao. In the years since we set our current pricing, our costs have risen significantly, as bean-to-bar cacao production with high quality and fairly traded beans is inherently a more expensive process than industrialized chocolate made with cheap beans and massive equipment. To continue to offer our cacao, we need to raise our prices slightly, and we’ve made a conscious choice to do that as minimally as possible. You’ll still be able to get our 10% discount on 5lb orders and be able to use your Cacao Rewards points to get further discounts.
At the end of the day, our core commitment to you is the quality and consistency of our cacao. We hold this as a sacred duty as we know you rely on us to provide this medicine for you. You can expect to continue receiving the cacao you’ve come to know and love. The upgrade in our appearance is our way of being fully aligned with who we are and making sure this medicine is shared to everyone who needs it.
We hope you’re as excited as we are and we would love to hear your thoughts on the new look!
Much appreciation to all who’ve brought us to this point and for the years of heart-centered change to come!
